Why does God want us to wait until we are married to have intimate sexual relations?
What is it with God and sex? Why does He talk so much about it? Why is He always saying wait until you are married to engage in sexual relations? Why is He against same sex relationships? I thought God was a loving God and wants me to be happy, loving whoever I choose and in the manner I choose?
I'm sure there are many other thoughts and questions when it comes to God and sex that could be addressed. What I would like to share is some thoughts about sexual relations you may not know or have fully understood. Sexual relationships go a lot deeper than you may know and can have serious ramifications in a persons life. So, let's jump in ...
The bible is clear concerning the serious consequences of sex.
1 Corinthians 6:16-20 The Message Translation ... There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two become one.” Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us more lonely than ever—the kind of sex that can never “become one.” There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for “becoming one” with another. Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.
In a nut shell, this is why satan wants to draw us into sexual sins of all types. They have consequences that effect our bodies and our souls. You not only join your bodies together but you also join your soul to the other person's soul - this is called a soul tie. Soul ties are dangerous because now that other person has influence in the spirit realm over your soul man (your thoughts, feelings, and decision making). If this wasn't bad enough you have now made a trade with the devil. Once you choose to "accept" his temptation and participate in a "sexual sin" - you are choosing to trade part of yourself, both physically and spiritually to get what you want which is outside of God's prescribed process of marriage between a man and a woman. Anytime you choose to believe satan's lie over God's Truth you are making a trade with the devil. Once you have made that trade the devil establishes a demonic gateway in your life in which he can now inflict you with sickness, disease, physical torments. He can also torment your soul with feelings of unworthiness, hopelessness, and all types of negative emotions. James clearly states:
James 1:14-15 The Voice Translation ... When a person is carried away with desire, lured by lust, and when desire becomes the focus and takes control, it gives birth to sin. When sin becomes fully grown, it produces death.
So, how do I fix it? How do I get free from my past indiscretions? First, let me be open and transparent. I am speaking from personal experience as I have been involved in the sexual sins of pornography, fornication and adultery. I'm not spouting some "theory" or "cute preacher talk." I'm tell you from personal experience what works and will truly set you free because like me - you have been struggling for years not knowing why. Ready? Are you truly sick and tired of being defeated, struggling, feeling like crap?
First, in order to reverse this trade you made - You MUST acknowledge your sin before God. Stop thinking all your sins were forgiven when you got saved, after all how has it been working for you? There needs to be a true heartfelt confession and repentance before Almighty God. Repentance is a firm determination to turn away from your sin and pursue His Righteousness. The blood of Jesus and the work He did on the Cross needs to be appropriated in your life through repentance. I can see this is going against some of your "theological belief systems", but again - How is what you believe been working for you?
Once you confess and repent, you need to bring a claim into the courts of Heaven in order to fully dismantle the demonic gateway in your soul. This will involve breaking any and all soul ties, revoking all demonic access and ultimately seeking a return of everything that was stolen from you through this demonic trade you made. When done in the court room you will then enter into God's trading floor which is in Heaven. There you will trade all the misery, pain, disease, shame and anything else you acquired through your trade. You will exchange it for peace, love, joy, acceptance and all else that was lost. Ready? Here is a sample prayer that you can pray. Feel free to interject any other words you feel necessary as you are guided by the Holy Spirit into your complete freedom from sexual sins.
Father, I present myself before Your Throne of Grace. You said I can come boldly before You in order to obtain mercy and find grace in my time of need. Father, this is my time of need as I desire to be set free from these besetting sins.
Father, I come before You because I have sinned. I come to confess my sins before You and plead for Your mercy to fall upon me. I confess that I have committed (state specifically all sexual sins as the Holy Spirit brings them to your remembrance). I acknowledge that I stepped onto satan's trading floor and agreed to be seduced and accept his temptation towards these sexual sins. I realize that this action I took was in direct rebellion towards You and Your Word. I confess this rebellion as sin and ask for Your mercy to fall upon me.
Father, I repent of my hearts attitude towards You and Your Word. I repent of my immoral actions and behavior. I repent that I chose to believe satan's lie over Your Truth. I repent that I chose to worship satan through this behavior and chose to turn my back on You. Father, please forgive me and have mercy on me. I now choose to walk in Your Ways. I now choose to pursue Your Kingdom and Your Righteousness. I choose to make You my first love and I will honor You with my body which You purchased with the precious blood of Jesus.
Father, I now enter into Your court room. I present myself before You as my Judge. Father, You said in 1 John 1:9 that if I confessed my sins You would be faithful and just to forgive me of my sin and that You would cleanse me of all my unrighteousness. I am here standing on Your Word. I have confessed. I have repented. I thank You that the blood of Jesus has cleansed me from all my sexual sins of the past. You no longer remember them and neither will I. I ask that the blood of Jesus would cleanse both my body and soul from any defilement through these sins. I ask that the blood of Jesus would destroy and break any and all souls ties that occurred through these sins. I ask that the demonic gateway that was established because of these sins be closed, destroyed, uprooted and completely removed from me. I ask that the blood of Jesus would wash me of any defilement or demonic seed planted in me because of these sins. Father, I do not want any traces of these sins in my life any longer. I ask for a decree from Your court that I am fully cleansed from all sexual impurity. I ask that my sexual purity be restored to me because the enemy no longer has any legal rights to hold it. I further ask that anything else concerning my destiny that was traded away from my because of my sin would be legally returned to me. Father, I ask that the decree states that this trade has been fully nullified through the blood of Jesus and I reclaim all that was lost by it. May everything I lost by this trade be given to Jesus so that He may cleanse it and purify it before He returns it to me. Thank You Father, for Your mercy, grace and justice towards me in this matter.
Father, I now choose to step onto Your trading floor. I choose to trade all the shame, sorrow, pain and heartache that I received because of my trading with the devil. I bring every plague and torment he placed upon my body through this trade. I willingly lay everything that I received through this trade with the devil upon Your trading floor. I do not want anything I received from this trade. I place it all on Your trading floor in exchange for Your love, Your acceptance, Your peace, Your joy. I exchanges it all for complete healing and restoration of all the devil stole from me because of my trading with him. Finally Father, I present myself to You as a living sacrifice. I lay myself willing upon Your alter as a whole burnt offering before You. May my life be a sweet smelling incense before You as I desire to worship You and only You .... In the mighty name of Jesus Christ - Amen.
